Short Fiction- Corrupting Others

... Rumplestilskin by Brothers Grimm is an example of Corrupting Others. The first example of the use of corruption was when the Character, the father, corrupted the King. The father told the King that his daughter could spin straw into gold because he wanted to make himself seem more important . "In order to make himself appear important he said to him, "I have a daughter who can spin straw into gold."" He wanted to be in a greater power of what he was in so he corrupted others to achieve that power. The outcome to the corruption affected the father's daughter, which caused another act of corruption.  The King became greedy and kept requesting for more gold by the daughter. Assuming she was doing it by herself, he kept using the daughter's talent her for his own advantage. This also expresses the corruption of others.  Like quotation number two , the daughter felt obligated to give the King her gold because of his power. The King used her vulnerable situation and repetitively kept making her spin straw into gold.  He didn't show any concern to the daughter's feelings. "When he saw the gold he was astonished and delighted, but his heart became only more greedy. He had the miller's daughter taken into another room full of straw, which was much larger, and commanded her to spin that also in one night , if she valued her life."...
