What makes a good book?
Three qualities I expect from a good book consist of several different things. I personally like a book with an intriguing beginning. If a book intrigues me right from the beginning I am more likely to keep reading. The Series of Unfortunate Events was one of the books I have read that had an intriguing plot. From the beginning, the Series of Unfortunate Events intrigued me into reading for example, where the orphans were going to go after their parents had just died in a fire. I also like an adventurous plot. I like to feel that the book is an escape from 'real life'. For example Harry Potter was an adventurous book with a plot about wizards/supernatural being. While I was reading Harry Potter I felt like I was escaping real life because the plot in my book was mystical and completely different from the real world. The third quality I look for in a book is a good ending. Many books I have read have had exciting endings. One of my favourite books is the Secrert Life of Bees. The ending in that book was exciting because the main event could either resolve everything or end everything. The excitement of wondering made me love the book.

Well written lauren, and I agree with your thoughts on escaping from "real life".
ReplyDelete"The Secret life of Bees" sounds like a really good book. I have seen the movie for it, so I know the plot line. If you haven't seen the movie you definately should. Dakota Fanning and Queen Latifah are really good in the movie. :)
